Police chief Kip Judice was rushed to the hospital for an acute respiratory attack that shut down his airways. His daughter tells us doctors saved his life.

Police chief Kip Judice endured breathing problems before going to the emergency room.. Judice’s daughter says she knew something was wrong when they received calls from health officials.

“We just weren't sure what our future was going to be , we were not sure if we were going to have him” Brandi Alleman Said.

When Kip Judice arrived at the ER at our Lady of Lourdes in Scott doctors realized that this was a life-or-death situation.

“We realized he wasn't moving air in or out and he wasn't able to make any sounds either and at that moment I knew that he was having some type of reaction calling his airways to close.” Dr. Michael Odinet Said.

Dr. Michael Odinet says they had a lot of work to do in a short amount of time.

“It was not an assumption we knew his air ways were close but we had no idea of what actually was causing that. We were hoping the measures that we instituted would work and fortunately for everyone involved that they did.” Dr. Michael Odinet Said.

Judice is now home but won't be able to speak for a couple of days as he recovers.

“We are doing a lot of guessing with a lot of his sign language um a lot of notepad writing but things that he expresses in text. I mean he has said so many times to not only us but everyone else about how thankful he is for the health professionals. I mean if it wasn't for them he wouldn't be here.” Brandi Alleman Said.
