Lafayette, LA – In the interest of public safety and accordance with governmental guidelines, the organizers of Downtown Alive! are going virtual for the Fall 2020 season. The season kicks off this Friday, September 18th, featuring Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble’s bluesy zydeco blend.

The 37th season of Downtown Alive! is presented by Evangeline Maid and will be streamed online from Acadiana Center for the Arts in the heart of Downtown Lafayette. DTA! will take place on Friday nights, with streaming beginning at 6 pm. Viewers can watch the virtual performances by tuning in to the Downtown Alive! Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/downtownlafayette.

Other notable performances this season include the funky soul stylings of DG & The Freetown Sound; a second helping of Zydeco courtesy of Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush; a dash of down-home Cajun from the Daiquiri Queens; and a season wrap-up with a Who's Who of Acadiana musicians with the Blue Monday Allstars.

“We encourage the Acadiana community to make plans to join us online on Friday nights to enjoy virtual concerts — made possible with the support of Evangeline Maid — and help keep the music alive,” said Anita Begnaud, CEO of Downtown Alive! Organizer, Downtown Lafayette Unlimited. “Curley Taylor is an amazing entertainer who we are blessed to have in our community; he and his band Zydeco Trouble are sure to start a dance party in your living room or your neighborhood!”

Downtown Alive! has provided family-friendly entertainment, along with a dash of culture, for nearly 40 years. Although 2020’s Spring and Fall seasons look different from those in the past, organizers are looking on the bright side of things and excited to support local musicians and provide family-friendly entertainment to the community.

Downtown Alive! would not be possible without the support of its sponsors, especially Fall 2020 presenting sponsor Evangeline Maid, venue host Acadiana Center for the Arts, and videography by Acadiana Open Channel (AOC). Companies and organizations like Lafayette Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Smokefree Music Cities, LUS Fiber, M.I. Brary, Victor Ashy, CGI, Professional Outsource Services, Rock'n'Bowl® de Lafayette, Lowry’s Printing, Element, Potty Girl, Townsquare Media, Delta Media, and Festival International de Louisiana have also come together to produce this season of Downtown Alive!

Tune in to the Downtown Alive! Facebook page for your virtual viewing parties every Friday. During the week of Festival Acadien, there will be no DTA! show as we encourage the community to support the festival by tuning in to their fantastic music lineup.
