LAFAYETTE, LA – Louisiana continues to rebuild and find hope after the devastation caused by Hurricane Laura. Through it all, our communities have shown that we can help each other out in many ways – even through blood donations. Your donation is needed now to ensure patients in our area hospitals do not go without.

As we recover, Vitalant and Dickey’s Barbeque want to spread a little bit of joy this Labor Day Weekend by offering a FREE Dickey’s Classic sandwich coupon to all donors that donate blood at the Vitalant donation center in Lafayette September 3 – 9.

Labor Day weekend is a typical fun experience for most, but it is also a weekend that usually sees an increase in blood usage while blood donation go down. As Louisiana is rebuilding and people are looking for ways to help out, Vitalant and Dickey’s Barbeque want to share the wonder of life and even a little BBQ with you.

Donate with Vitalant at the donation center at 1503 Bertrand Drive September 3 – 9 and receive a Dickey’s Barbeque FREE Classic Sandwich coupon (while supplies last).

Working to secure the local blood supply is important throughout the year, and is especially important now as we work to build a stronger Louisiana. Every day, through pandemic or hurricanes, blood usage remains constant and your donation is important to the success of patients recovering from cancer, trauma, child birth, daily treatments and more.

In order to effectively uphold social distancing standards, appointments are strongly encouraged. Face coverings are required for all donors and staff. Please come to your donation with a face covering that covers both your nose and mouth.

All successful blood donations will be tested for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. For more information, please visit Vitalant.org/antibodytest. As one of the nation’s foremost blood providers and transfusion medicine research centers, Vitalant is simultaneously leading the effort to restore the local blood supply and ensure that patients and hospitals in our communities have stable blood inventories. The U.S. Surgeon General and Federal Emergency Management Agency have designated blood donation as an essential function, encouraging healthy and eligible donors to continue to donate even amidst COVID-19 response measures. Vitalant continues to intensify precautionary measures to ensure the safety of donors, patients and staff.
