LAKE CHARLES, LA – United Way of Southwest Louisiana has teamed up with the City of Lake Charles’ Partners in Parks program and Boys & Girls Clubs to provide Cycle to the Park on Saturday, August 14 from 9 am until 11 am. The morning activities will take place at Columbus Circle Park and include bike drawings, free bike helmets for children and Kona Ice.
“Teaching children safety and health habits when they’re young is always a great idea,” says Denise Durel, President and CEO, United Way of Southwest Louisiana. “Partners in Parks encourages families to get outside and appreciate our natural resources and be active together. We are fortunate to live in an area that values our parks and is working to restore them after everything that happened last year.”
Bike safety demonstrations will be provided by members of the Lake Charles Police Department. Children will be able to take part in free train rides, fun jumps and animal balloon artistry. There will also be free Kona Ice and children’s sized bike helmets as well as bicycle drawings.
Columbus Circle Park is located at 3520 Greinwich Blvd in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
United Way of Southwest Louisiana will need volunteers to assist with some of the items at the park. Individuals wishing to give of their time can sign up at www.unitedwayswla.org/volunteer
