St.Landry Parish, La. - The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office received calls from numerous victims stating that the catalytic converters were missing from vehicles. One of the businesses provided security video footage of a white male driving a Honda Pilot. That video was posted on Crime Stoppers social media and the male was identified as Raymond Dominic Miller.”

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Raymond Dominic Miller was entering the properties of the businesses and using an electric reciprocating saw to cut the catalytic converters from the vehicles. It was also determined that the Eunice Police Department was receiving complaints of catalytic converter thefts. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office then contacted the Eunice Police Department to notify that information was received during their investigation and Raymond Miller was also committing catalytic converter thefts inside Eunice city limits.

St. Landry Crime Stoppers spotlighted the thefts and Raymond Miller on its weekly Crime of the Week television segment on July 1st, asking for the public’s assistance with locating Raymond Miller. Numerous tips were received immediately after its airing. One tip gave the exact location of Raymond Miller, which led to his arrest in Acadia Parish.

When questioned by detectives by both the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Eunice Police Department, Raymond Miller admitted to several catalytic converter thefts inside the Eunice City limits and on the outskirts of the city. Miller states that he cut the converters off of the vehicles using a reciprocating saw and then sold the converters in a neighboring parish.

On July 23, 2021, Raymond Dominic Miller was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with 4 counts of theft and 3 counts of criminal damage to property by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. The Eunice Police Department also charged him with 6 counts of theft, 5 count of criminal damage to property and simple burglary. His total bond is $67,500.

Eunice Police Chief Joseph Randy Fontenot stated, “Police can only solve crimes with the help of our citizens. Thanks to the tips received through Crime Stoppers

and other witnesses, we were able to solve some of the recent thefts. Remember, your information, even if it seems minor and insignificant to you, may be our missing piece of evidence.

“Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz added, “I would also like to thank Crime Stoppers and the tipsters who both identified and called in the location of Miller. This case shows that when the community and law enforcement work together, we can make our community safe for everyone. More arrests are expected in the thefts, Guidroz added.”

On behalf of Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, this is Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
