Former Northside receiver Shakeir Ryan can't get away from football. His Canadian league football season was canceled because of the pandemic, so the former Northwestern State receiver is out here helping his little brother Sage Ryan and the rest of his LCA teammates.
"It means a lot," Ryan said. "Ever since our season got canceled due to Covid-19, I just wanted to be around the game. Coaching is something I definitely want to do."
He found out his season with Edmonton was canceled in late August. he volunteers here as a coach 3-4 times a week.
"I just encourage them to work hard," Shakeir said. "Anything you want to be in life, just believe in yourself."
Shakeir is 25 and he's been on in NFL camps with Rams and Redskins. His little brother Sage is a top recruit at safety. He wants to be even better.
"He just says big-time players make big-time plays," Sage said.
we just try to stay on him and feed as much positive energy as much as possible.
Shakeir can't pick up first downs here, but he can pick up morale and execution.
