Cite Des Arts To Hold Auditions for Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice"

Cité des Arts Holding Auditions for The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare

Posted: Mar 11, 2021 4:08 PM

Cité des Arts will be holding in person auditions for William Shakespeare’s Comedy
The Merchant of Venice, on March 20 and 21 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. each day, at Cité des Arts, 109 Vine
Street in downtown Lafayette. The show is directed by Cité des Arts’ Program Director, Daniel Ladmirault, and
will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May 21 to May 30.

Auditions will adhere to COVID protocols, which will include mandatory masks while in the building and
auditioning, temperature screening, social distancing, and an attempt to schedule auditions in half-hour blocks to
avoid congregating. We will be casting all roles and looking for a racially diverse cast, with an age range between
approximately 19 years old and up. The rehearsal and performance schedule will be quite time consuming, so
please audition only if you are prepared to make the time commitment. The audition will consist of readings from
the script. If you have a classical monologue prepared, we will be glad to hear it.

To schedule an appointment time call Cité des Arts at (337) 291-1122 or email danny@citedesarts.org.
