Joy Trahan a St. Martin Parish School teacher was excited about the inauguration and decided to wear a T-shirt in support of that, however, she was later asked by the school board to change her shirt or leave.

Louisiana Association of Educators met with superintendent Allen Blanchard, Jr. of St. Martin Parish Schools. The incident occurred on January 20, 2021 and LAE felt it was improper for administration to have required educators to remove their jewelry, clothing and tennis shoes. The superintendent has since issued an apology.
