Lafayette, LA (KADN) -- The Ragin' Cajuns are off to their best start since 2014. Louisiana is still (7-3) despite losing to McNeese on Wednesday night. They are pushing to have the season end as it did in 2014 with an extended run in the postseason. In 2014, they lost in the Super Regionals to Ole Miss.
"You gotta remember about last year, there was a lot of emotions about coach not being there and still in the grieving process," Ragin' Cajuns baseball coach Matt Deggs said.
"We still are to some respects. Plus the newness of a new coach is there plus a new system. It had been there but it was still new. You go to this year a lot of team is new. A lot of the pieces you see are new. We have improved our competitive balance for sure and our athleticism. "
The Ragin' Cajuns leave it all out on the field with in-game moves during the games. Coach Deggs used 17 position players on Wednesday and even pinch ran Tuesday's starter, Connor Cook. The Cajuns next play Houston Baptist starting on Friday at 6 pm.
