LAKE CHARLES, LA- The Cajun Navy launched a feature on their Ground Force smartphone application that accepts donations for Christmas gifts for children affected by the 2020 Hurricane season.
The Angel Tree feature on the app allows users to create a wish list if they are in need and gives others the option to donate to these families. Four hundred families have already created a wish list this holiday season. The Cajun Navy now urgers others to download the app and choose the “I Want to Give” option to contribute to a family’s list.
The Ground Force app creates an efficient way for the Cajun Navy to continue to assist Hurricane Laura and Delta victims and recruit volunteers.
Founder and Director at Cajun Navy, Rob Gaudet, explains, “Our goal is to keep people aware that Lake Charles is still in the middle of a crisis. Not only is it holiday season, but the temperatures are starting to drop as well, and this community cannot be forgotten.”
The Cajun Navy is a mobile and social movement that crowdsources disasters through technology. While disaster management still tends to lag behind trends in technologies, the Cajun Navy is leading the way to develop a more efficient model for helping communities devasted by natural disaster.
To make a donation to a family in need, download the Cajun Navy Ground Force App and select “I Want to Give” under the Angel Tree feature.
