CROWLEY, La. - A complaintant reported the theft of a welding machine along with a burglary of a residence was reported to deputies on September 14, 2021.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a person was hired for lawn care services and possibly could be considered a suspect.
Serial numbers on one item was determined to be pawned in another parish.
The deputy went to the pawn shop, identified the item by serial numbers and recovered the item. After obtaining an arrest warrant, the deputy located the suspect and arrested 46 year old Chad Paul Lavergne of Crowley. Further investigation led to the recovery of other items which the victim had reported stolen.
“I appreciate the efforts of the deputy by following up on this case, which led to the arrest and recovery of several thousand dollars of property. I would also like to add that the victim’s maintaining records of serial numbers and photos also played a major role in the property being recovered and identified” stated Sheriff KP Gibson.
Lavergne was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for theft and burglary.
