On November 18, 2020 at approximately 12:30 p.m. officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to the area of Kibbe Street for a complaint of subjects sitting in, and standing near, a vehicle while displaying various guns. This area has been a high crime area known for shots fired complaints and the location of a homicide on November 3, 2020.
Patrol officers and detectives arrived in the area and observed subjects near the car identified by the caller. When officers approached, the subjects went into an apartment at Kibbe Street. Officers could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the area of the vehicle and the doorway of the apartment. Officers observed the subjects that went into the apartment (known to officers as Javion Palmer and Jaheim Palmer) step out of the apartment. Both subjects were detained by officers.
Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence that Javion and Jaheim Palmer had been in, along with the vehicle. During the search, officers located various narcotics along with a handgun and an assault rifle. Based on the investigation, the brothers were arrested.
