The Lafayette Parish Public School System has hired Brian P. Alleman as director of accountability to replace the recently retired Tom Spencer. In this position, Alleman will be responsible for providing leadership and management of district accountability services, including student assessment, school improvement, planning, research and program evaluation. Alleman joins LPSS following a 20-year education career in Acadia Parish, where he first taught mathematics and served as an elementary school administrator. Since 2007, Alleman has held the position of district administrator for instructional technology/SIS coordinator for the Acadia Parish School Board. In that role, Alleman provided technical, data-based accountability and curricular support to district leadership. He was also district coordinator for security and FTP, and managed the JPAMS/WebPams/JCampus data system, in which he has more than 12 years of software management experience. As chairman of the SWLA JPAMS User group, he advised 15 school districts on best practices for reporting student information to the Louisiana Department of Education. Associate Superintendent Francis Touchet states, “Mr. Alleman comes to us with years of experience regarding Louisiana’s K-12 accountability system. He is a person who has collaborated with leaders throughout the state over the years. He is a leader that will help our district achieve the status of being an ‘A’ school system.”
Alleman obtained his bachelor of science in mathematics from Northwestern State University in 2000 before completing an alternate teaching certification program in 2004 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He also received a master’s degree in education from McNeese State University. Alleman says, “I am humbled to have the opportunity to bring a collaborative, school-centered and service-focused approach to the accountability department of LPSS.”
