(KADN) - Baton Rouge activitist Gary Chambers announced the launch of his campaign for U.S. Senate.
Chambers is a social justice advocate and community organizer. He has also previously run for Louisiana's Second Congressional District seat.
Among his key issues for the campaign:
- economic aid for Louisiana residents, such as the Build Back Better Act,
- voting reform,
- Medicare for All.
“I’m running for Louisiana Senate because it’s time for real change in Louisiana from a candidate who understands first-hand the challenges facing Louisianans every day," Chambers said.
The Senate race is for the seat currently held by GOP Senator John Kennedy. Kennedy was first elected to the seat in 2016 and is running for re-election.
Luke Mixon, a Navy veteran who lives in Baton Rouge, is also planning to run as a Democrat.
The open primary of Congressional seats is November 8th, 2022. The general for the race is December 10th.
