UPDATE: 1 dead, 1 injured in NW Evangeline Thruway crash near I-10

According to DOTD, US 167 South remains closed at I-10.

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KADN) - A major two-vehicle crash shut down part of NW Evangeline Thruway near I-10 in Lafayette Thursday afternoon.

According to Lafayette Police, two people were initially reported injured.

LPD said that a vehicle was headed north on the southbound should of NW Evangeline Thruway.

A second vehicle was driving south in the outside lane.

For an unknown reason, the wrong-way vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and hit the other car head-on.

The driver of the first vehicle, later identified as Faith Armond, 60, of Sunset, was taken to the hospital. Armond died in the early morning hours of January 14.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was also taken to the hospital. Last update had them listed in stable condition. A passenger from the same vehicle was transported to the hospital and last listed in serious condition.
