On February 23, 2021, at 6:49 p.m., the Rayne Police Department responded to a shooting incident in the 600 block of N Arenas Street. Witnesses allege three male suspects chased a Honda sedan and one of the males fired a round into the vehicle as it drove away. The vehicle was occupied by a 16-year-old male passenger and an 18-year-old female driver, but neither occupant was struck by the bullet.
On February 24, 2021, at 10:50 a.m., officers arrested a 16-year-old suspect, who was charged with attempted first-degree murder. Two other juvenile suspects are being searched for at this time.
