$13 Million in Grants for Airports Throughout Louisiana from Federal Aviation Administration

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced a total of 11 grants totaling $13,146,304 in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to improve airports throughout Louisiana.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced a total of 11 grants totaling $13,146,304 in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to improve airports throughout Louisiana. These projects will reconstruct taxiways, rehabilitate taxiway lighting and runways, conduct airport wildlife hazard assessment/management plan, update airport master plans, construct terminal buildings, and improve airport drainage and erosion control.

“Airports are the gateway to a city and are one of the first things employers look to when making decisions as to where to invest,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These projects make it cheaper and more efficient for freight and passenger to travel. This make Louisiana a more attractive place to invest.”

Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority

This grant will provide federal funding for the Louisiana Regional Airport associated with Gonzales, Louisiana. This project reconstructs 7,112 square yards of the existing terminal apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.

Iberia Parish Airport Authority

This grant will provide federal funding for the Acadiana Regional Airport associated with New Iberia, Louisiana. This project replaces 109 concrete panels of the existing North General Aviation Taxiway needed to extend the useful life of the pavement.

Acadia Parish Police Jury

This grant will provide federal funding for the Le Gros Memorial Airport associated with Crowley, Louisiana. This project improves 6,000 feet of the airport's existing drainage system to eliminate ponding on airfield surfaces to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards.

St. Mary’s Parish Council

This grant will provide federal funding for the Harry P Williams Memorial Airport associated with Patterson, Louisiana. This project updates the airport master plan narrative report and airport layout plan to address key issues, objectives and goals pertinent to the airport's future development.

Greater Lafourche Port Commission

This grant will provide federal funding for the South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr Airport associated with Galliano, Louisiana. This project conducts an airport wildlife hazard assessment and develops a wildlife hazard management plan.

This grant will provide federal funding for the South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr Airport associated with Galliano, Louisiana. This project removes Runway 18 Approach non-hazard tree obstructions to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.

This grant will provide federal funding for the Union Parish Airport associated with Farmerville, Louisiana. This project removes non-hazard tree obstructions to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards.

City of Bogalusa

This grant will provide federal funding for the George R Carr Memorial Air Field Airport associated with Bogalusa, Louisiana. This project rehabilitates 5,002 feet of the existing Runway 18/36 pavement to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.

Lafayette Airport Commission

This grant will provide federal funding for the Lafayette Regional/Paul Fournet Field Airport associated with Lafayette, Louisiana. This project constructs a 114,500 square foot terminal building to meet design standards.

Shreveport Airport Authority

This grant will provide federal funding for the Shreveport Downtown Airport associated with Shreveport, Louisiana. This project rehabilitates 5,016 feet of Runway 14/32 to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris.

Chennault Industrial Airport Authority

This grant will provide federal funding for the Chennault International Airport associated with Lake Charles, Louisiana. This project reconstructs 350 feet of the existing Taxiway D pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
