Waiting on CALEA for results on Lafayette Police Accreditation
CALEA Assessors sent to review reports after yesterday's Public Forum
November 13, 2012 — In attendance at the public forum yesterday was Major Steve Seefchak, an assessor from CALEA, officers from Lafayette's department, and people from the public. We asked one public attendee why he felt it important to attend this meeting.
"I think it's very important for the citizens to come out and support the police department. Often times you hear the bad things about law enforcement, but I'm here to tell you these men and women put their lives on the line everyday."--Marc Mouton
Mouton went on to say that a big reason he is such a supporter of the Lafayette police department is because of the work that he saw during the recent investigation of the Mickey Shunick case. Once the CALEA assessors complete their review of the agency they report back to the full commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted accredited recognition status.
