Today marks the beginning of the annual “meat market”, also known as the NFL draft. Over the next three days, 253 new members will be welcomed into the NFL. University of Louisiana tight end Ladarius Green, and defensive back, Dwight “Bill” Bentley are expected to be among those 253 elite players.
Green is considered one of the top tight ends available in this week’s draft. He caught 51 passes for 606 yards and eight touch downs last season for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Green possesses a desirable combination of size and speed. In last February ‘s annual NFL combine in Indianapolis, he measured 6’6, while running a 4.53 40-yard dash, making him one of the most athletic, if not the most athletic tight ends in the draft.
Bill Bentley led the Cajuns making 71 tackles this season while intercepting three passes, returning two for touchdowns. Bentley drastically improved his draft stock at the NFL combine as well. He recorded a 4.43 in the 40-yard dash, displaying elite speed among the defensive backs tested. He is considered by draft experts to be incredibly instinctive and fluid at the defensive back position.
The first round kicks off tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, and will continue through Saturday, April 28th.
