The city of Lafayette and downtown bar owners have finally come to an agreement on police patrol.
The new ordinance requires the larger bars to pay $15-hundred dollars a month for added security.
Smaller bars will be charged by the amount of people it can hold.
Councilman, Purvis Morrison says, "This is not a tax, this is not a levee like some people are trying to say it is. This is something that bar owners say they need it. They said they don't mind paying their part because without the detail they won't be able to operate."
Morrison also says the bars will have to pre-pay for the service.
If they don't, they won't get the police patrol, and will be violating the ordinance.
