We have another case of animal cruelty to tell you about....this time in Port Barre.
Authorities charged Carol Wheaton with two counts of animal cruelty, after they received a complaint about two dogs chained in her yard.
Police say both dogs could not reach their food or water bowl.
Police Chief Deon Boudreaux said, "It’s your responsibility to take care of the animals. They can't fend for themselves. They don't have the skills to go out and hunt food, especially if they're chained to an anchor or fence where they can't get to food. So it is our responsibility to make sure our animals are fed and watered and properly cared for."
Wheaton has since bonded out of jail.
