10,000 Gallons of Oil Spilled into Mississippi River
Crews are busy cleaning up an oil spill in the Mississippi river after an early morning collision between two tankers.
It happened around two o'clock this morning about 50 miles up river from New Orleans near LaPlace.
Officials say a tanker barge rammed a crane barge and the impact tore a gash into one of the tankers and about 10,000 gallons of oil spilled into the river.
Luckily neither of the barges sank. We are told the spill has been contained, so there is no threat to the public.
