LAFAYETTE, LA — Ragin’ Cajun rising junior, Chase Compton received the 2012 Alaska League Player of the Year Award. The Slidell native was also the recipient of the Silver Slugger Award.
The coveted honors were received as a result of Compton leading the Alaska Baseball League for The Anchorage Bucs. The left-handed hitter compiled a .396 batting average and maintained two nine-game streaks. His season average was consistently above .400.
Of the 35 games played Compton ranked top 10 in the ABL with 26 runs scored, 38 base hits, nine doubles and six homeruns.
The Anchorage Bucs also received acclaim, ABL All-League first team utility player honors; the Buc’s season finale will commence Sunday, July 29.
