Saints players involved in bounty scandal cleared for play
Those Saints players suspended for their alleged role in the bounty scandal have been cleared for play.
This comes less than 48 hours from the Saints season opener against the Redskins in the Superdome.
Saints linebacker Jonathon Vilma was relentless in his efforts to have his year long suspension overturned.
Today he expressed his feelings after learning the news by tweeting quote "victory is mine."
Unfortunatly for Vilma, while he is cleared to play for Sunday, he'll more than likely sit it out on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
Defense teammate, Will Smith, had his four game suspension dropped as well.
Smith is expected to be added to the 53 man roster before the start of Sunday's contest.
The three game suspension of former Saints linebacker Scott
Fujita and eight game ban for free agent Anthony hargrove have also been lifted.
To be clear, the panel ruled only on the Saints players so Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt still face their respective suspensions.
The Saints open up Sunday at noon against the Redskins. The game can be seen on FOX 15.
