Just over one week from the start of the season, LSU has lost a player. Freshman safety Robert "Bo" Aycock is off the football team, following his arrest for driving under the influence.
Cpl. L'Jean McNeely of the Baton Rouge Police Department says Aycock, 18 years old from Houston, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint in the 3900 block of Nicholson Thursday night. Aycock allegedly showed signs of impairment, failed a standard field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer test.
Aycock was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison, charged with DUI, reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of alcohol under 21 years of age, and drinking in a motor vehicle.
LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed that Aycock is no longer on the team following Friday afternoon's practice. Aycock was a three-year starter at Houston's Memorial High School and was named to the 19-5A all-district team last season.
The Tigers play at home against Appalachian State in the season opener on Saturday, August 30th.
