Ireland native Mark Bowtell has signed a letter of intent to play with the LSU men’s tennis team, head coach Jeff Brown announced. Bowtell’s signing completes the 2008-09 roster.
Bowtell, a County Wicklow, Ireland native, will be the second Irishman on the Tigers as senior-to-be James Cluskey hails from Dublin. He attended Institute of Education while living in County Wicklow.
“Mark brings all the characteristics we look for in our players,” Brown said. “He is a great competitor and should bring a lot to the program.”
Bowtell won the 2004 National Irish U-14 Indoor Championship. He captured the 2005 U-16 National Masters Championship. Bowtell received the Senior Tennis Award in 2005. Was the highest ranked ITF junior in 2006 and 2007.
Bowtell joins fellow freshman Neal Skupski to complete this years’ class.
