Randall Mackey threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth touchdown as No. 2 seed Bastrop beat top-seeded Archbishop Shaw, 38-14, for the Class 4A State Championship on Saturday in the Superdome.
It was the second year in a row that both teams were 14-0 going into the title game, and officially the second straight championship for the Rams, which have won 44 consecutive games. On the field, it marked the third straight championship for Bastrop, but the Rams were stripped of the 2005 title by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
Mackey rushed 21 times for 139 yards and completed 13 of 21 passes for 259 yards.
Mackey ran 50 yards for a touchdown, made a 10-yard touchdown pass to Josh Bradshaw, ran for a 2-point conversion, then threw a 72-yard touchdown pass to Preston Coleman to put Bastrop up 20-0 with 1:44 left in the first quarter.
A 6-yard touchdown pass to Preston Coleman made it 26-0 at halftime.
