Bayou Classic launches new fan-focused website

Monday, August 6, 2012 - 2:30pm

The Bayou Classic team unveiled a new website today in anticipation of this year’s series of events starting Thursday, November 22, 2012. In addition to the full listing of events for this year’s Bayou Classic, the new website provides fans the ability to connect with their favorite team on personalized pages that put the school’s brands front and center.

The new website, accessed at www.mybayouclassic.com, was created to provide an interactive experience for fans of Grambling State University and Southern University.

The website introduces new sections that provide fans with exclusive game information and an opportunity to participate in The Bayou Classic directly, including:

“My Team”
The “My Team” link provides direct access to both school’s information – including up-to-the-minute stats and schedules. Fans are linked straight to their school of choice to interact directly with either the Tigers or Jaguars.

Photos
Fans of Grambling and Southern now have the opportunity to directly upload their personal photos from the game and other Bayou Classic events on the website. This new section provides fans the opportunity to share their Bayou Classic moments with everyone on the website.

Alumni
This new special section is the single place for all information regarding the Bayou Classic for alumni of the two universities. Special announcements, events and promotions will be announced in this section for alumni of the two schools to participate.

The new website is another step by the Bayou Classic team and the two schools to make the event more fan and family friendly. The new website is in addition to the recent announcement that tickets for the Bayou Classic were reduced this year to make the game more affordable for those with families.

“Fan and family friendly – that is the goal in everything we have done and continue to do for the Bayou Classic,” said Dottie Belletto, President of New Orleans Convention Company, Inc., the management firm of The 39th Annual Bayou Classic. “The new website is one more way we are making this happen for Southern, Grambling and all Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the US.”

The Bayou Classic features one of America's greatest college sports rivalries, bringing the fans and alumni of Southern University and Grambling State University to New Orleans for a celebration of football, family and the traditions and pageantry surrounding Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Last year, the two schools split $1.32 million in proceeds from the series of Bayou Classic events. These proceeds provide support to the campuses’ athletic programs and fund scholarships through the SU System Foundation and the GSU Foundation.
