Not only has shortstop Reid Brignac been called up to the majors, he's going to play for the best team in big league baseball. The first place Tampa Bay Rays promoted the former St. Amant Gator Thursday.
Brignac was hitting .265 with seven homers and 38 runs batted in for the Durham Bulls in Triple A.
The Rays made the move after shortstop Jason Bartlett suffered a right knee sprain Wednesday night against Boston.
Brignac will be in the starting line-up for his first game as a big leaguer. After taking Thursday off, Tampa Bay hosts the Royals Friday.
