Fire station reopens in Lafayette

After overcoming design and funding problems, Lafayette Fire Station No. 4 reopened Tuesday. It had been closed nearly three years. The new building cost the city $1.4 million to build.

Tangipahoa man faces murder charge

A a tangipahoa parish man is facing a murder charge in the shooting death of his father 12 years ago. Investigators say 39-year-old Eugene Pravata shot his father to death in November of 1998.

New hotel breaks ground

Ground has been broken for a new hotel in Lafayette. Springhill Suites by Marriot in River Ranch will feature over 103 suites. The Suites will be just west of Camellia Boulevard on Settler's Trace.

Four people allegedly fake crash

State police arrested four people in Evangeline Parish. One woman and three men are accused of staging a car crash. Troopers say they then filed accident claims and are now charged with insurance fraud.
