After being accused of cheating on her boyfriend, a Belle Rose woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend. She called police after she realized how badly he was hurt.

“She stated she was afraid of her boyfriend and picked up a long knife from the kitchen and stabbed him,” Sheriff Mike Waguspack, Assumption Parish, said in a release. “She stated ‘when she saw blood coming from her boyfriend’s mouth, she became afraid that he was badly hurt and called 911.”

Officials say it all started on Monday, May 6 when Gwendolyn Simon, 26, left her home on Virginia Street. After returning a short time later, her 21-year-old boyfriend accused her of being unfaithful. She told deputies that they began to fight.

“He advised that he and his girlfriend were arguing and that as he was leaving the residence his girlfriend stabbed him in the back and as he turned around she stabbed him in the chest,” Sheriff Waguspack noted. “She then ran out of the house.”

At some point she reportedly returned to the home and called for help.

EMS transported the victim to a local hospital and he is currently listed in stable condition.

Simon was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Second-Degree Battery. She was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
