A man was seriously injured after his girlfriend allegedly ran him over with her car after she accelerated while he was exiting the vehicle.

The Eunice Police Department reports that the incident originally happened on September 11, 2012 shortly after 8:00 p.m. We’re told officers were called a local hospital where a 20-year-old man was taken to an emergency room with serious injuries.

The victim told officers that he asked his girlfriend, Amber Brickey, to drop him off at an apartment complex on Jake Street. He said that once they arrived at the apartment, he opened the car door and attempted to get out. However, when he was only halfway out of the vehicle, she accelerated and caused him to fall out. He was then run over.

The victim’s right arm, hip, and knee were badly injured.

Brickey’s vehicle, a 2005 Ford Focus, was eventually located abandoned outside of the city limits. A warrant was then issued for Brickey’s arrest.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, Brickey was finally located and taken into custody. She’s charged with Aggravated Battery and booked into the Eunice City Jail. Her bond was set at $7,000.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
