ST. MARY PARISH, LA — The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested a man for forging a check.
Damien Keller, 29, was arrested for Forgery and a warrant for probation/parole violation.
On May 14, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of a forged check. While reviewing account transactions, the victim discovered that a personal check had been cashed.
After speaking with the victim and working with the victim's bank, investigators identified Keller as the person who forged and cashed the check. Keller had been hired by the victim to do some yard work and gained access to the financial document at the victim's residence in the Patterson area.
In late August, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received information regarding Keller’s whereabouts. Investigators were told that Keller was working in Belle Chase, LA. The callers stated that they learned Keller was wanted on the warrants via internet search.
SMPSO detectives made contact with Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office who verified the tips. Keller was arrested and then transported to the St. Mary Parish jail for incarceration on August 29, 2013. No bond is set.
