Victim of Tigerland shooting dies; suspect charges upgraded to first-degree murder
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The victim who was shot in the head during a robbery at his home in the Tigerland area died over the weekend.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the victim died over the weekend at a local hospital. The suspect, George Triplett, 22, was arrested in the early morning on Thursday, Aug. 2. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Attempted First-Degree Murder.
Officials believe Triplett knew the victim through drug related transactions. Detectives believe Triplett went over to the 18-year-old victim’s home located on Tigerland Avenue and attempted to rob him. At some point the Triplett is accused of shooting the victim in the head.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he has remained in critical condition since the incident happened on Tuesday, July 31.
Triplett will be rebooked into Parish Prison with the upgraded charge of First-Degree Murder.
