Update: Baton Rouge man arrested in June 30, 2012 murder case

 UPDATE: The Baton Rouge Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s Task Force arrested Chattley Chesterfield, 18, in the early morning hours of September 14 for 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Dangerous Weapon.

Chesterfield is accused of shooting and killing Jordan Key, 18. The second victim, 19 years of age, suffered non-life threatening injures.

UPDATE: The victim of the shooting that happened on College Drive has been identified as Jordan Key, 18. The victim of the shooting at Mohican-Prescott has been identified as Columbus F. Milligan III, 37.

ORIGINAL STORY: A violent night in Baton Rouge resulted in the death of two men and one man hospitalized after two separate shooting incidents.

The first shooting happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29 on the 4200 block of Mohican and Prescott. When officers arrived they found a man shot dead. He was located at the back of an apartment complex.

The second shooting happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30. Officers were notified that shots had been fired around the 4500 block of Rabey Street at College Drive. When they arrived witnesses stated that someone had been shot, but had fled the scene in a vehicle.

Patrol officers learned that a vehicle matching the description was located on Perkins Road at South Acadian. When they approached the vehicle they found two men inside suffering from gun shot wounds. One was dead and the other was suffering from a life threatening injury.

The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators have not identified a motive or suspects for either shooting. However, the cases do not seem to be connected.
