IRION COUNTY, TX (KTSM) — An El Paso woman was killed in a crash in Irion County, TX Tuesday morning. A spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirms that Tabetha Longnecker, 42, of El Paso was killed after the 1994 Toyota Tacoma she was driving crashed into the back of a 18-wheeler making a left hand turn off of US 67 in Irion County.
The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on US 67, 6 miles south of Mertzon, TX. DPS officials say that Longnecker was driving eastbound on US 67 when she rear-ended a 18-wheeler that was making a left hand turn into a private drive.
Longnecker was killed at the scene, her two passengers, Tyler Eugene Longnecker, 20 of Berwick, LA and Erika Cronier, 20 also of Berwick, LA were seriously injured and taken to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, TX. Tyler Longnecker is listed in stable condition and Cronier is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash. Officials with TxDPS says that no one in the vehicle was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash.
