Third earthquake in a week hits East Texas area near Louisiana border

Another earthquake hit the Timpson area in East Texas early Friday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was a magnitude 2.4 on the Richter scale, and hit about two kilometers west of Timpson.

This marks the third earthquake to hit that region in less than a week.

On Monday, the area experienced a 4.1 magnitude quake around 5:00 p.m., followed by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake later in the day.

According to the USGS, the quake could be felt in Timpson and Garrison, which are located close to the Louisiana border.

Timpson is about 70 miles from downtown Shreveport.
