Suspected burglar caught on tape before jewelry store break-in
SHREVEPORT, LA — A local jewelry store was the target of a break-in early Monday morning in Shreveport.
At around 3:39 a.m., authorities were dispatched to an alarm that had been set off at a jewelry store in the 4800 block of Line Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered the store's front glass door had been busted out and merchandise from inside the store was found strewn across the ground outside of out the building.
A search of the building was conducted by K-9 officers, but they were unable to find the suspect. Video evidence recovered from the store's surveillance system shows a man peering through the stores window moments before the burglary. The same subject can be seen breaking into the business and making entry inside the store.
After several minutes inside the business, the burglar is seen leaving the building with an undisclosed amount of merchandise. It appears that the man may have injured himself during the break-in as blood evidence was recovered on scene.
Detectives are combing through surveillance footage at this time as the search for the suspect continues. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Shreveport-Caddo Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or Shreveport Police at (318) 673-6955.
