Bubbles and a massive sinkhole continue to plague the residents of Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou. Geologists and experts were sent in today to continue monitoring the sinkhole, which appeared Friday morning.
Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden is urging East Baton Rouge residents to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Ernesto as it approaches the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, and to review preliminary precautions.
A female who was found dead near a canal July 3 has been identified as 50-year-old Freda Charlene Truelove. Investigators said there were no signs of foul play in her death, but have not been able to locate Truelove's next-of-kin.
Tropical Storm Ernesto has formed just east of the Windward Islands. Current sustained winds are 52 mph with gusts up to 63 mph. The projected path is west at 22 mph entering the Caribbean Sea as a tropical storm by tomorrow.
