Nobody Was Hurt, Everybody Was Able To Get Out Safely This Morning So That Is The Good News.
Shreveport Fire Fighters Arrived Within Two Minutes After Receiving A Call At Nine This Morning About A Large House Fire In The 400 Block Of Stoner. There Were Initially Six Units That Responded, But Officials Quickly Realized That This Was Too Big Of A Fire And Called In 19 Additional Units.
They Were Able To Put A Really Good Stop On It. They Got Inside Found The Origin Of The Fire Which Was The Bottom North East Apartment. They Were Able To Exstinguish That.
The Fire Initally Started After One Of The Resident's In The House Fell Asleep Smoking A Cigarette. She Woke Up And Was Able To Put The Small Fire Out On Her Mattress, But Didn't Realize Until After She Left The House This Morning That The Mattress Reignited And That The Fire Wasn't Out.
We Thought It Was Out. We Didn't Know It Was Still Burning Inside Of The Mattress. Then My Aunt Came From Over There And She Came Out And Said Debra You're Apartment Is On Fire. It Was Up In Flames.
Luckily The Three Children Who Were In The House When The Fire First Began Had Left For School Before The Flames Had Really Erupted.
They Should Have Called The Fire This Morning On The Initial Fire. Even If You Have A Fire In Your House Unless You Are Absolutely Positively Sure That It Has Been Exstinguished Then You Need To Call The Fire Department, Even If You Just Need Us To Come Check It Out
Although The House Is Not A Total Loss, Fire Fighters Say There Is Still Too Much Smoke Damage For The Residents To Be Let Back In. They Say They Will Be Staying At A Local Shelter Until Further Notice.
