Tour focuses on diplomas and the path students take after high school
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — State superintendent John White made a visit to Lafayette's SLCC campus as a part of his Louisiana Believes tour. He met with educators along with local superintendents to discuss diplomas and the path children take after they graduate high school.
"It's important we get more kids to our universities, it's important we get more kids through our universities, but it's equally important that we have kids pursuing rigorous technical training so they can take positions in our economy today," says John White, state superintendent.
White says Louisiana is in the middle of a huge job boom and by tweaking diplomas, rewarding schools that provide great job training, fund job training, and help educators prepare their students we can make sure children are ready for college and those jobs around the state.
