Today Louisiana State Police held a ceremony to dedicate Louisiana Highway 94 in Lafayette Parish as the "Trooper Donald C. Clevland Memorial Highway."  Trooper Clevland was shot and killed in the line of duty on July 2, 1977, and House bill 171, which created the roadway designation for Clevland legal, was passed during the 2013 Legislative session and signed by Governor Jindal in May.

"It's been 36 years since my father was killed, and it is wonderful that this incident and my father's life is still in the forefront of Louisiana State Police as well as the Louisiana legislatures' minds that tehy would dedicate Louisiana 94 in his honor," says Donald Clevland, the son of Trooper Clevland.

Clevland went on to say that today was a celebration for their family to look back and know what their dad gave, and that he died as a sacrifice protecting the citizens of Louisiana as well as Acadiana.
