State police continue to investigate the officer-involved shooting in Breaux Bridge
Off-duty St. Martin Parish deputy allegedly shot and killed his relative, Kendall Alexander
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — A Breaux Bridge man is dead after being shot multiple times by one of his relatives. That relative was an off-duty St. Martin Parish deputy. It all happened Sunday night at the Potpourri South apartments in Breaux Bridge. We're told that's where 34 year old Kendall Alexander was shot and killed. At this point, state police haven't released much information.
"We want to make sure we confirm some things before we begin releasing a lot of details from it. Especially when you're dealing with a community, we are always concerned about people and the possibility of rumors or other stories being out there. We want to let people know don't believe rumors, don't spread any rumors that you may hear. We want to base everything we have on facts and we're going to make sure we do that," says Trooper Stephen Hammons, state police.
The name of the deputy hasn't been released yet, and detectives are still waiting for the autopsy results. They're also talking to possible witnesses. Police will not say for sure if an arrest will be made.
