Man allegedly shot himself in back of Iberia Parish Sheriff's car while handcuffed, new autopsy report claims shot in chest
LAFAYETE (KADN) — The investigation continues tonight after a man shot himself in the back of an Iberia Parish Sheriff's car while he was handcuffed. Victor White III's autopsy report has been released, and it claims that White was shot in the chest, but did rule his death a suicide. State Police say that just because the autopsy rules "chest" it does not mean the shot entered White's body from the front.
"We want to make sure that whether it's the deceased person or the deceased person's family, or the Sheriff's department or whoever it might be. We want to make sure that the citizens of Louisiana, that family or that department know that they have a thorough investigation done and that they have no other questions, that they're all answered," says Master Trooper Brooks David, State Police Troop I.
State Police hope the case will be turned over to the District Attorney's office. That will only happen if no new information turns up.
