SLEMCO warning customers to be aware of new threat spreading statewide

Wednesday, February 19, 2014 - 6:16pm

A warning for SLEMCO customers.  Over the past couple of days they've gotten a lot of complaints from customers in our area who've been getting calls and emails from people claiming to be with SLEMCO, and threatening to cut service if customers don't buy a pre-paid debit card worth more than five-hundred dollars.

"It's a shame that our customers are having to deal with this, but this day and age unfortunately people do try to prey especially on older people and those that are less-educated.  We're just trying to make sure that doesn't happen," says Mary Laurent, Communications Manager for SLEMCO.

Remember that SLEMCO sends all their customers' bills in the mail including the company name, account numbers, and contact information on the bill.  If you have any question whether or not your SLEMCO bill is legitimate call SLEMCO at 337-896-5200.
