Shreveport teen charged with trying to murder his father
SHREVEPORT, LA — A man is in custody Wednesday morning for allegedly shooting his own father Tuesday night at a house in west Shreveport.
At around 8:43 p.m.,officers were dispatched to a home in the 3100 block of Ashton Street to reports of a shooting. When they arrived on scene, police found Douglas Martin, 51, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Martin was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives later learned Martin’s son, Adam Martin, 19, walked into the house on Ashton Street armed with a handgun and shot his father. Martin then dropped the gun and ran from the scene.
Just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, Martin surrendered himself to authorities at the Shreveport Police Complex and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted second degree murder.
