Shreveport bandit holds woman up at gunpoint
SHREVEPORT, LA — Authorities have arrested a local man in connection with an overnight robbery in east Shreveport.
On Tuesday, at 10:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to reports of an armed robbery of a person at a gas station on the 200 block of East 70th Street. Upon arrival, patrolmen talked to a woman who said she was gassing up vehicle when she was approached by a man with a silver and black semi-automatic handgun.
The gunman allegedly pointed the gun at her and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the bandit left the scene in a gray four door vehicle.
Just moments later, authorities noticed the get-away car traveling northbound on Southern Avenue. Officers immediately initiated a traffic stop and found a man inside who matched the exact description of the robber.
Officers determined the man was the suspect who had robbed the woman earlier. Authorities were also able to recover the handgun used and money taken from the victim. The suspect, 25-year-old Hashim Zeigler, of Shreveport, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of armed robbery.
