A weekend rash of commercial burglaries in the down town area of Crowley has been closed with the arrest of a Lake Charles man.

“We had a busy weekend and I am glad to see that the suspect involved in these burglaries is in custody” stated Chief of Police KP Gibson.

The first incident occurred on during the early morning hours of Friday, May 10. The business of Teachers Pet was broken into through a rear door.

The second incident occurred on Saturday, May 11 during the morning when the same business was broken into. During this burglary the suspect rummaged through the entire building seeking items to steal.

The final incident occurred on Sunday, May 12 during the morning where a local attorney’s office was broken into.

During the Sunday morning burglary, the owner observed that a window had been broken on the building and contacted police. During a search of the business, it was discovered that the suspect remained inside of the building. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident.

Officers were able to confirm that all three (3) burglaries were conducted by the same suspect. Crowley Police arrested David McNab, 31 of Lake Charles. McNab was booked for one count of aggravated burglary and 2 counts of simple burglary of a business. McNab was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail. (Note: The Aggravated Burglary stems from McNab stealing a firearm from one of the businesses)

Information obtained through the investigation revealed that McNab had been in the Crowley area for 7-10 days and is listed as homeless. McNab’s criminal history is excessive with multiple counts of burglary and possession of stolen property.

“The officers involved in this case did an outstanding job in taking this suspect into custody without injury. We encourage our citizenry to stay involved by calling in any suspicious activity that they see,” stated Chief Gibson.
