BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — US Senator David Vitter is in the Capital City looking at new education options for students.
Vitter toured ITT Technical Institute in Baton Rouge today, Tuesday, Aug. 14. The Senator took time out to learn about degree programs and find out how people in industry are helping the still struggling economy. Vitter says no matter what industry higher education is crucial to moving the state forward.
“Well, you know big issue in higher education in general is costs which are going up and up and up and we need some way to both help students with those costs, but not just throw gasoline on the fire of higher ed - inflation and that's what I’ve been particularly focused on,” Sen. David Vitter, said. “So we're helping students but don’t help increase that inflation rate.”
This was the first in a series of Baton Rouge stops for Senator Vitter.
