Roulette gambling conspiracy participants sentenced
The Western Distict U.S. Attorney's office has been real busy lately. Last night we reported to you on the indictment of ten people involving the synthetic drugs being sold at curious goods in the Lafayette Area now, comes news of a sentencing involving a roublette gambling conspiracy in Lake Charles. 34 year old Charbel Tannous of Katy Texas, a known high roller leader of a group who conspired to defraud the L'auberge Du Lac Casino in Lake Charles was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison and has to pay almost a million dollars, 909,700 in restitution.
Tannous had a scheme where he bribed two employees who were dealers at the casino to rig the roulette table game that Tannous was placing bets on after the ball landed on a number.
The two dealers at the roulette games were Derrick Weldon of Lake Charles and Stephen Mouton of Iowa Louisiana who have already pled guilty. As for Charbel Tannous the leader of the conspiracy he was arrested at the Bush Internatinal Airport in Houston when he was attempting to flee the U.S. en route to Beirut, Lebanon.
